My Tree ID: Tree Species Identification App
"My Tree ID," developed by Texas A&M Forest Service, is an educational app designed to facilitate tree species identification. With over 1500 images from 475 different tree species, users can identify trees based on leaves, flowers, seed, bark, or location. The app includes known occurrence maps for almost all species, detailed descriptions, interesting facts, and similar species information for each tree.
The app offers two search methods: a simple key by characteristics approach using color icons and a filter tool from the A-Z species list. Users can search by common or scientific name, or alphabetically. "My Tree ID" aims to enhance users' understanding of trees by using simple language and terms, with the option to access a glossary for technical terms. Additionally, the tree age estimator tool provides an approximate age based on species growth factor and tree diameter.
